The tools work without an account and run in your browser. If you save something, it is yours: private, never shown to a landlord, and deletable in one step.

The tools

The Deposit Clock, Fair Charge and the Rent Splitter work out their answers in your browser from what you type. We don't receive the dates, amounts or room sizes you enter unless you choose to save them to an account. Listing text you paste into a scam check is meant to be processed the same way, on your device.

If you create an account

We store your name, email and a hashed password, your sign-in sessions, and what you choose to save: move-out cases, household ledgers, lease dates and condition reports. A session cookie keeps you signed in; it holds a random token, and we store only a hash of it.

Analytics

We count page views and tool use with our own first-party analytics. There are no third-party trackers or advertising pixels. Each event records the page, the referring site, the device type and country, a random visitor ID kept in your browser's storage, and a short hash of your IP address that changes every day. Your IP address itself is not stored. Events never include your email, your name, addresses, amounts or anything you typed into a tool; for example, a Deposit Clock run records only the state code.

Landlords

We never send your details to a landlord or property manager. If you send your landlord a letter or report from housr, you send it, and only what you choose.

Export and delete

You can delete your account at any time from Account settings, which permanently removes your data and uploads. Exporting everything you saved as PDF and JSON is being added to Settings.
