This is my written notice that I will end my tenancy at the rental above and vacate on [last day of the tenancy]. I will return the keys on [key return date].

North Carolina law (N.C. Gen. Stat. §42-14) sets a default notice period for a month-to-month tenancy: Notice of seven days before the end of the current month. If my lease sets a different period, I am giving this notice under the lease.
